Constitutional Rights of Minorities Article 29:
Protection of Interest of Minorities
1. Any section of the citizens residing in the territory of
India or any part there of having a distinct language,
script or culture of its own shall have the rights to
conserve the same.
2.
No citizen shall be denied admission into any Educational
Institution maintained by the State or receiving aid out of
State funds on the grounds only of religion, race, caste,
language or any of them
Article 30: Right of Minorities to establish and
administer Educational Institutions
1. All minorities, whether based on religion or language,
shall have the right to establish and administer education
institutions of their choice.
A. In making any law providing for the compulsory
acquisition of any property of an Educational Institution
estblished and administered by a Minority, referred to in
clause (1), the State shall ensure that the amount fixed by
or determined under such law for the acquisition of such
property is such as would not restrict or abrogate the right
guaranteed under the clause.
2. The State shall not, in granting aid to Education
Institutions, discriminate against any Educational
Institution on the ground that it is under the Management of
a Minority, whether based on religion or language.
As a Minority Institution we enjoy :

Institution of our choice
* The freedom of choice of the medium of institution.
* The right not be nationalized.
* The right to appoint our own teachers
* The right to admit children belonging to our religion.
* The right to give religious instruction to Christians

HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
St. Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Capuchin Order,
born in Italy in the year 1181, dedicated his whole life
living and propagating Universal Brotherhood. We, the
followers of St. Francis, live and work for the same
brotherhood and have taken our goal and aim to become
instruments of peace. Hence the motto of our school is
Education for Peace, Progress and Prosperity.
As the Capuchin Education Board of the Holy Trinity Province
Karnataka decided to Venture into the Educational Ministsry
in Raichur District, it had been identified that Pothnal as
proper place and it was decided to begin the Education
Ministry at Pothnal. As a result of the hard work and great
enthusiasm of then living Fathers, obtained permission from
the Government in 2006 to run classes from I-V and in 2010
from VI -VII in English medium and in 2012 from VIII-X.
From then on in one way or the other this Institute of Sneha
Jyothi Vidyalaya has been reaching out to the poor and the
needy in their educational needs. Besides this, learning
English & Speaking English is made compulsory in the Campus.
Cleanliness and Discipline is given prime importance.
For those children whom Sneha Jyothi was only a dream due to
the distance has become reality by the school bus facility
even up to 25 kms from the school and separate boys and
girls hostel facilities are made available by the kind help
of the Religious Sisters.
To make the students complete with the modern world they are
given effective Computer Education & all modern facilities.
Aims and Objects :
♦ Cultivate basic qualities of character and a sense of
moral and spiritual values.
♦ Learn to respect parents. elders, teachers and authority.
♦ Cultivate values like truth, forgiveness, self-sacrifice,
honesty, justice and concern for others.
♦ Foster respect for life- plant, animal and human, and
protect environment like our Founder St. Francis of Assisi.
♦ Show respect and tolerance to every religion in day-to-day
interactions with our neighbours.
Admission :
Our School is open to all classes of student
irrespective of caste, creed and religion. Every candidate
for admission must be presented to the Principal in person
by the parent/guardian who should stand responsible for the
conduct, duty and study. Admission forms are available at
the school office from the 1st of April during the working
hours. These forms should be duly filled in and signed by
the parent/guardian, must be submitted to the Principal
before the 15th of May. A proper certificate from the school
last attended and the Transfer Certificate duly
countersigned by the concerned Education Office should
accompany the admission form. In case of fresh admission to
Nursery and 1st Standard, birth certificate has to be
attached.
Medium for Instruction :
The school includes classes from Nursery to SSLC. The
curriculum of the Karnataka State Secondary Education and
Examination Board is followed and the students are prepared
for the
Public Examination of SSLC. The medium of instruction in
English.
Religious and Moral Education:
To maintain a good moral conduct, every student has to
attend moral science classes. However, the Christian
students are given religious instruction by the Capuchin
Friars and Ursuline Sisters and all the others are given
moral science classes. It is obligatory.
School Uniform :
Every student should wear the particular uniform as
prescribed by the school for each day. Uniforms are made
available in our school at the beginning of the year. The
uniform is meant to inculcate in the students a sense of
decorum, equality and feeling of oneness. In case a student
fails to wear the uniform for a specified reason, the
parents should write in the diary where the presecribed
format is provided for this purpose. If this is not done, a
fine of Rs.10/- will be charged per day
Fee Regulation :
The prescribed fee for each section could be paid in
total at the beginning of the year or in three installments:
half at the beginning and the remaining in September &
December. At any rate, no school fee would remain due on the
1st of January. If it happens a fine will be charged
counting each day. No student will be allowed to answer the
final examinations unless and until all the fees are paid
without any arrears.
Note : Fees once paid will not be returned for any
reason.
Instruction to Parents/ Guardians:
Co-operation of parents/guardians is very essential for
the proper education of the children.
Parents should see that their children are dressed
properly and neatly.
Parents are requested to supervise the daily Homework of
their ward and duly sign their homework dairy every day
after the completion and counter check and thus co-operate
with the teachers.
It is the duty of the parents to provide necessary
infrastructure and material for their daily duties at home.
Children should not be kept at home or disturbed during
working hours for trifle reasons.
Progress cards of the students after each unit test are
duly signed in the presence of the teacher. This will help
the parent teacher to have a dialogue about the ward and
take adequate steps to improve the over all growth of the
ward.
Parents/guardians are absolutely forbidden to walk on the
verandah and enter the classrooms for any reason. They may
meet the teacher before or after the class hours only. They
are advised to contact the School Office or the Principal’s
Office for any necessity.
Parents should meet the class teacher and discuss about
the progress of the child at least once a month. One can
meet the Headmaster and also the class teacher on Saturdays
between 10am to 12 noon. In great urgency one may meet these
persons on any day with the permission of the Principal, but
with prior appointment.
Parents/Guardians are requested to make known their
grievances or complaints directly to the Principal and not
to the teacher concerned.
Visitors/Parents/ Guardians are not allowed to speak to
the student or their teachers in their respective classrooms
during teaching hours. They will make an appiontment and
meet them only in the teacher’s room or in the parlour.
DISCIPLINARY REGULATIONS
Punctuality :
1. The pupil shoud reach the school at least five minutes
before the first bell which rings at 9.20 a.m. on all the
days and the entrance gate will be locked at 9.40 a.m. and
those who come late will not be allowed to come in.
2. Punctuality, regularity and cleanliness are expected from
every student at all times. Students who wear the dress that
is not prescribed by the school and who dress untidily, will
be sent back or punished according to the regulation of the
school.
Silence :
1. When the school bell rings all the students and the
staff will assemble on the ground according to their
respective classes, for Morning Prayer. After the prayer all
the students accompanied by their respective class teachers
will proceed to their classrooms in total silence.
2. Those students who enter the school premises before the
Morning Prayer will sit in their respective classrooms in
silence and revise the previous day’s portion.
3. Pin drop silence to be observed by all the students and
the staff especially inside the clasrooms and also in the
verandahs. Any discussion, consultation or debate should be
had in the playground or in the staff rooms provided for the
purpose.
Regularity :
1. All the students require minimum 90% attendance to be
eligible for the promotion of the examination.
2. Irregular attendance, misconduct insubordiantion to
teachers, etc. are sufficient reasons for permanent or
temporary dismissal of a student. Other offences are
punishable according to the gravity of the offence.
3. When a student has been absent from school or has come
late, valid reason for the action has to be entered in the
school diary and duly signed by the parent/guardian, should
be counter signed by the Principal before the students
enters the class. Defaulters will be charged Rs.10/- per
day.
4. No student is allowed to leave the school premises during
the working hours without the explicit permission of the
Principal.
5. Names of the students, who absent themselves without
written intimation for two consecutive weeks shall be struck
off from the rolls.
6. If leave is required due to illness or any other reasons
the student should send a leave note or should bring it
along when he/she comes to the class next. The parents/
guardians should sign every leave note. Prior permission
should be obtained personally by the parent/guardian for a
leave beyond 5 days. In case of absence due to ill health, a
medical certificate should be produced.
7. Any student absconding for more than 2 days from his home
or school for any reason will be dismissed from the school.
This Way Please :
1. Students are strictly forbiden to bring mobile phones
to the school.
2. No books (other than text books and school library books)
may be brought to the school without the permission of the
Head Master.
3. The school is not responsible for the articles lost. It
is not advisable to bring valuable articles like expensive
watches, ornaments of gold or silver garments, etc. to the
school. Books, tiffin carriers, sweaters should bear the
name of the pupil and he/she will be the sole
responsible for its safekeeping.
4. Every student must have a copy of the school calendar and
it should be brought to the school everyday. Parents should
carefully go through the calendar daily and sign their
remarks when required.
5. Students are strictly forbidden to take part in any
public demonstration or compaign for any political groups.
6. No collection of fee for any purpose can be made without
the approval of the principal.
7. All the students learn to make good use of the furniture,
books etc. If any damages are made to the school property,
they are expected to pay for the repairs. Students are
forbidden to disfigure or scribble on the walls or funiture
and to throw paper in and around the classrooom. Defaulters
will be penalized.
8. Students should be diligent in their duties and come to
the classes well prepared with daily lessons and with
homework carefully done.
9. Games and drill are compulsory for all the students. Any
exception to this is granted only on medical advice. During
the games no student is allowed to sit in the classroom.
10. No student suffering from contagious or infectious
disease will be permitted to attend the school.
Evaluation and Promotions :
The whole academic year is divided into 2 semesters:
June-September and October- March. Every 2 months Tests are
conducted to evaluate the study progress of the child. The
evaluations are held after each semester and also at the end
of each unit.
After each evaluation, the progress cards will be prepared
and the parents are to collect them from the class teachers
concerned and return them back to the class teacher duly
signed. Before signing the progress card the parent should
discuss with their ward about the progress he/she has made.
Tampering/ forgery of the progress card is punishable under
law. No pupil are allowed to get absent for evaluations
except when prevented by reason of health in which case a
medical certificate has to be produced. For all the
evaluations, students must use the answer sheets duly sealed
and stamped by the school only. For the final evaluation,
hall ticket will be issued 15 days in advance and this has
to be collected from the office not by the students but by
the parent or guardian of the student concerned. Before
obtaining the hall ticket all the fees/ dues of the school,
school bus are to be cleared. For no reason a student will
be allowed to enter the exam hall or to answer the exams
without having his/her hall ticket.
Promotion list will be finalized taking into consideration
marks of both semesters and the monthly tests.
School Bus Service :
School bus service is provided to the students who have to
reach from far off distance. The specified monthly bus fee
has to be paid every three month with a Pass. The fee is
received in two Installments in June and November.
The students should be at the alighting point at least 10
minutes before the specified time. If late, the parents
themselves are responsible to reach their children to the
school. Remeber! The bus fee has to be paid for the10 months
of the year though the bus may not run during the holidays.
Arrears in payment of bus fee will cause in withholding the
final results.
Notice Board:
There will be information displayed on the notice board.
Parents are requested to take note of these massages
personally. Even if they do not come to the school daily,
they are supposed to get this information from those who
bring the children to the school.
Extra Curricular Activities :
Periodically the school organizes debate, quiz, speech,
skit, dance, singing and essay competition, etc., in order
to develop the power of public speaking and to acquire the
quality of leadership. Games and physical education is given
special importance during the school hours.
Be prepared- you are always in a state of readiness in mind
andbody to do your duty, being disciplined yourself to be
obedient to every order. Body strong, active, able to do the
right thing at the right moment in the right way.
